Principal Advisor (Full-Time, Remote)

Role Description New Media Advisors is seeking a Principal Advisor, SEO/GEO to join our fully remote team. This is a senior, client-facing role for an experienced search professional who can lead both traditional SEO and generative engine optimization programs. You will serve as a primary advisor to clients, helping them improve visibility across Google, Bing, AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and other emerging search experiences.
The right candidate will combine strong SEO fundamentals with practical experience in AI search visibility, content strategy, technical SEO, analytics, and client leadership. You should be comfortable turning complex data into clear recommendations, leading strategic conversations with senior stakeholders, and guiding internal team members through execution.
This role requires sound judgment, strong communication, technical depth, and the ability to manage multiple client priorities without losing sight of business outcomes.
What Youβll Be Doing:
- Develop High-Level SEO and GEO Strategies: Create, implement, and refine integrated search strategies that improve organic rankings, AI answer visibility, brand mentions, source citations, and competitive share.
- Lead Client Consultations: Serve as a trusted senior advisor to clients. Lead discovery, assess business needs, set priorities, present recommendations, and maintain strong relationships with senior marketing and digital leaders.
- Oversee Content Strategy Development: Evaluate, create, and guide content strategies to enhance client positioning, engagement, and organic reach.
- Implement SEO Best Practices: Advise on current industry standards and emerging trends in SEO and AI Search while helping clients remain competitive through advanced techniques and tools.
- Lead Technical SEO Initiatives: Identify and address technical SEO opportunities related to site architecture, indexing, site performance and related areas.
- Evaluate AI Search Visibility: Assess how clients and competitors appear across AI search platforms, including ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and other emerging experiences. Identify opportunities related to content coverage, entity signals, authority, citations, third-party sources, and retrieval.
- Monitor and Report on Client Performance: Analyze and report on SEO, GEO, content and business-driven outcomes and key performance metrics, making adjustments to optimize effectiveness.
- Manage Project Timelines and Deliverables: Ensure client engagements remain on track and deliverables exceed expectations, balancing high-quality output with timely execution.
- Mentor and Guide Team Members: Lead by example and proactively communicate to guide and develop junior team members, fostering skill growth and a collaborative team dynamic.
Youβre Probably a Match If You Have:
- 7-10+ years of SEO and content marketing experience, with demonstrated success in agency, consultancy and/or client-side leadership roles working with complex brands.
- Advanced proficiency with tools like Semrush, Ahrefs, seoClarity, Conductor, Profound, PeecAI, Scrunch, etc. and experience with Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics.
- Strong familiarity with generative AI platforms including ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude.
- Deep expertise in SEO-driven content strategy and/or Technical SEO.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, comfort in frequent senior client interactions and a team-oriented mindset.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
- Ability to work independently and as a self-starter in a fully remote environment.

Total Compensation: $125,000 or more (based on experience)
